The Ultimate Food Scouts Guide to Barcelona: 18th – 24th September 2017

Visiting Barcelona this week? Here’s some alternative ideas of things to do and see whilst in this city between 18th – 24th September 2017. Check back every week for another weekly guide to food and drink activities in the city.

TUESDAY 19th September

Become a sushi master with ComerJapones‘ intermediate Sushi Masterclass at Miele (29 Via Augusta).  However, tickets aren’t affordable to everyone at €59.90 but does include instruction in a wide variety of sushi styles, so if you’re keen it’s a good chance!

WEDNESDAY 20th September

Bebe-Té and Mellow Sheng are back today for the second edition of their Kombucha Workshop. Places are limited to just 5 and are €18, including everything you need for the class.

Are you a Harry Potter genius? Show off your nerd skills with a Harry Potter Pub Quiz at Polaroid Bar (29 Carrer Còdols) with magical drinks deals too!

THURSDAY 21st September

We love the Montana shops and gallery, because we love street art. Join the Montana crew and Street Spirit magazine tonight from 7pm for the launch party for issue two. Join in at Montana Cafe & Restaurant (Comerç nº 4) whilst marvelling at Arc de Triomf on your way.

Craft Film Nights returns to Casa Gracia (116 Passieg de Gracia) tonight from 7.30pm.  Tonight they show Ekaj (2015) an American movie directed and written by Cati Gonzalez. To make the deal even sweeter, there’s craft beer from the awesome Nomada Brewing Company too. If you dig indie movies, keep an eye on Craft Film Festival too, which returns for it’s second edition, with details to be announced soon.

FRIDAY 22nd September

This week is La Merce, an annual holiday for Catalonia. The holiday will be celebrated with street parties, giant papier mache giants and of course, plenty of food and drink. There’s something interesting happening all over the city, so we’re sure you won’t get bored! One of the best ways to see the festival whilst grabbing some awesome street food is via Van Van Market. Head to key locations across the city for a bumper Van Van Market featuring over 70 vans! Find all the info on their Facebook event and opening times.

One of our fave craft beer locations Olgod (74 Carrer Hospital) is hosting an illustration exhibition tonight from 7pm alongside another guest DJ for the evening. The walls will be displaying work from Italian illustrator, Riccardo Nannini; tunes will provided by Mesmerin, whoever he is. You’re guaranteed an excellent selection of craft beer at Olgod alongside some awesome fresh food.

If you’re a member at Greenardó; or soon to be; they’re hosting a Tattoo Convention this weekend sponsored by 23 Oils and Grassroots California. The event runs Friday and Saturday with two different artists exhibiting per day alongside merch from the sponsors and some sweet freebies no doubt!

SATURDAY 23rd September

Check out one of the newer tattoo parlours in Barcelona with a party from 3pm at BCN INK (64, Poeta Cabanyes) featuring an exhibition and free drinks to celebrate arrival of guest artist Ruth Vandal.

Go shopping for food, fashion & design in one place for Estació Disseny a design led market taking place at Barcelona-Estación de Francia. The event starts 11am-9pm today and tomorrow.

Here’s a random find, particularly when your Spanish isn’t great. There is genuinely a Vegan Circus happening today to raise funds for a variety of animal charities. The Facebook event promises a circus, food, live music and many more surprises. Check the event for more information.

On a health kick? Mikkeller’s famous Running Club is coming to Barcelona and it’s exactly what it sounds like. A regular meet up for a group run/fast walk for up to 60 minutes followed by a free beer at Mikkeller Barcelona (202 Carrer Valencia) if you ever needed an incentive to get fit, this sounds like a great one! The event starts from 12.30pm and there’s more info via Facebook.

If for some reason you’re bored of Spanish and Catalan food and beer, you can head to Festival de Gastronomia i Cervesa Belga for all things Belgian craft beer and food. Hosted with help from Barcelona based Belgian beer experts, Lambiscus, we’re sure this will be delicious fun. More information on their Facebook.

SUNDAY 24th September

Here’s a chance to check out the old Estrella beer factory at La Mercè a l’Antiga Fàbrica 2017. A food truck and live music event event kicking off from 12noon and running tomorrow too.

There’s also still time to check out some of the other markets mentioned above, many of which are still on today too.

Food Scouts.
