The Ultimate Food Scouts Guide to Barcelona: 28th August – 3rd September

MONDAY 28th August 2017

It’s Monday night and it’s time to watch the Game of Thrones finale, if you haven’t already seen it or already had it ruined for you, you can head to Irish Bar, Shenanigans (11 Carrer Marqués de Barberá) to watch it on the big screen whilst eating pies.

Whiskey, soda, pizza and rock’n’roll is offer at Vicino – Pizza Bar (68 Passeig Joan de Borbó) they’re offering cocktails from €6 and DJs spinning vinyl until 1am.

TUESDAY 29th August 2017

Fancying a Tuesday night party? Head to Sidecar (7 Plaça Reial) on the beautiful palm tree lined square for a night of rock at this famous Barcelona live music venue, entry is €5 but includes a beer or you can seek out a flyer for free entry. Their poster is cool and we dig this venue, so we think it should be a good night out.

WEDNESDAY 30th August 2017

It’s the famous La Tomatina festival today, which is basically a massive water fight except with tomatoes. We don’t know why either, but if you want to find out more you can take a day drip with Stoke Travel for €90 which includes all your transport, tickets, a guide and Sangria.

THURSDAY 31th August 2017

If you’re into cycling, you might fancy checking out this book launch from Barcelona cycling crew Dosonoventa Brotherhood, who are launching a book and limited edition prints today, they make very awesome merch, so worth looking up. Sounds interesting, it starts at 7pm at Wer-Haus (287 Carrer d’Aragò).

For craft beer and good tapas, head to Abirradero (77 Carrer Vila i Vila) for their birthday celebration, there’s been a pub on this site since 1917 and right now they’re serving a lot of experimental craft beers of their own creation, a handful of guest beers and good quality Catalan themed tapas and food. They’ve got special offers and live music to offer from 8pm to celebrate.

FRIDAY 1st September 2017

It’s Friday night and the eve of Barcelona’s next craft beer festival, Mash, so you might want to save yourselves for that. If not, there’s a 90s party happening at Dixi 274 (50 Sancho de ávila) tonight from 11.30pm with free shots from Thunderbitch, a cinnamon flavoured whiskey drink with branding that looks like an 80s hair metal band.

If you’re a member at Gracia based smoking club, HQ Barcelona you should definitely check out their live painting event tonight from 7pm with Venezuelan artist, Maikol de Sousa a.k.a Borneo Modofoker. HQ Barcelona are also fellow merch makers, so even if you’re not in Barcelona you might like their wares, so check them out! They’re making some awesome content online too, we dig it.

Since it’s the even of Mash, you will probably be wanting a least ONE craft beer, so we recommend heading to Olgod (74 Carrer Hospital) for their tap takeover with La Pirata from 10pm. They’ve got some other breweries taking taps over throughout the weekend too.

SATURDAY 2nd September 2017

It’s finally here! Mash Craft Beer Festival is on today and tomorrow and we’ve been looking forward to it ever since we spotted their swish advertisements at a festival earlier in the year. Tickets are €12.50 but include some drinks and a souvenir glass, and we’re all about those! They’re some amazing breweries representing over the weekend, we’re particularly excited about Cloudwater, Brewski, Magic Rock and The Wild Brew Co especially, but there are SO many brilliant local and international brands attending. SO STOKED, we’ll be doing some photos for Instagram too.

Looking for something other than beer? You might dig this Mexican themed event at Santísimo Agave (49 Vilodomat) for tequila, tacos for only €1 and Disco Mezcal DJ from 10pm.

SUNDAY 3rd September 2017

Time for some magic in Barcelona! Head to Barcelona-Estación de Francia from 5pm for a cosplay and photoshoot opportunity from BCN Cosplay, a kind of flashmob of witches and wizards catching the train to Hogwarts, sounds like fun! Full instructions can be found on their Facebook event.

If you think we missed something or want to tell us about something else, get in touch via email or on social media at @wearefoodscouts. Cheerskies! We’re off to find more craft beer, naturally.
